BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Michael Owens is a gastroenterologist and researcher at Fred Hutch who cares for patients with gastrointestinal cancers and researches these diseases.

Dr. Owens has clinical expertise in interventional endoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, and radiofrequency/cryoablation for gastrointestinal cancers.

His current research projects include using endoscopic ultrasound for pancreatic cancer early detection, theranostics and windows of opportunity trials. Dr. Owens aligns procedural care with research requiring tissue acquisition, ablation, resection or injection relating to gastrointestinal cancers and pre-cancerous conditions. Device development is a common component of some of his research.
